Canis believes life is full of interesting gifts wrapped in different wrapping papers. Some wrappings look fantastic, some appear strange, and some even seem unfavorable to pick up. Through the counselling process, Canis humbly plays the role of a trusted companion, embracing a non-judgmental mind and a compassionate heart to accompany her clients in unwrapping their disguised gifts. Canis is experienced in facilitating clients who suffer from stress, mood disturbance, grief, and uncertainty in career/ study/ life situations to unfold their hidden issues, process their emotions, understand their internal needs, and transform into their desired true self.
Canis adopts a holistic approach in supporting her clients as she believes everyone has a unique life story. Canis keenly incorporates Solution-Focused Therapy, Emotion-Focused Therapy, Mindfulness-based Intervention, Positive Psychology Intervention, and Dream Therapy into the therapeutic process where appropriate. With her own rewarding experiences from self-understanding and healing through dreamwork for over a decade, Canis has been a dream educator for interested parties, including not-for-profit organizations.
Canis earned a doctoral degree in Transpersonal Psychology, focusing on dream studies. Her doctoral dissertation study, “The Healing Effects and Working Mechanisms of Rescripting Nightmares for Chinese Adults,” shed light on the transformative potentials of a Chinese-customized nightmare treatment.
Canis looks forward to working with her clients in unwrapping their disguised gifts. Gratefully, the transformative counselling journey may lead to the valuable insight that “Life is a gift in itself.”
