Emerald completed both her master’s degrees at the University of Hong Kong. She has experience working with adolescents and adults from diverse backgrounds struggling with various emotional, psychological, mental and relational issues. She has also spent time working with clients on issues related to trauma, sexual or substance addictions. She draws her clinical perspectives from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Family Therapy
Prior to qualifying as a counsellor, Emerald works as a qualified barrister. Emerald is passionate about helping women who are struggling with relational issues and sexual addictions. She did this by volunteering as a group facilitator for a women’s support group called “Pure Desire”. This experience inspired her to pursue her studies in psychology and counselling.
Emerald believes that understanding the human mind, behaviours and feelings can help facilitate good mental health and is equally as important as physical health. She also believes that counselling should be provided in a time-sensitive manner as a preventative to mental illness. She understands that it takes courage for clients to begin counselling, therefore her goal is to provide a non-judgmental environment for clients to overcome their issues, heal and grow at their own pace.
Despite the busy life in Hong Kong, she manages to create a good balance between her career and hobbies in order to better equip herself to help others.
